Plans for most L. Francis Herreshoff designs are now kept by:
Ships Plans Division
Mystic Seaport
PO Box 6000
Mystic CT 06355-0990
Telephone: 860-572-0711 and ask for Ships' Plans Division, or try 860-572-5360.
I spoke with the Ships' Plans Division on 11/6/2000. They said that
for H-28, design no. 80, there are about 12 sheets. They'll send you
a list of the sheets, from which you can order which ones you want.
You may not copy or distribute the plans in any way, but you may build from
them. Mystic Seaport acts as a library or museum, not a designer or naval
architect, which means that they take no responsibility for what you build,
and can provide no advice or customer support. Read their policies on their website.
The cost is $12 per sheet ($9 for members), plus 15% shipping, and $2 extra if you want the plans shipped rolled in a tube.

Boat building courses at Mystic Seaport
In 1991 I ordered plans for L. Francis Herreshoff's H-28 cruising ketch,
design #80, 1942.
At that time the heirs of LFH sold the plans and license to build H-28s, and their
address was
LFH Plans, P.O. Box 613, Santa Rosa, California 95402.
The price for complete plans plus license to build was $450.
It was also possible to order individual sheets for repair/restoration
of an existing vessel for $12/sheet.
I couldn't find this company in 2000.
You can also find the plans (reduced in size, and without license to build a new boat) in L.F.Herreshoff's book, "Sensible Cruising Designs," which is well worth buying. You may find it available from International Marine Publishing Company, or Amazon.com. Also see Books by L. Francis Herreshoff
